Drops Of Jupiter - Chapter 6 | 9:21 AM
Chapter 6

Josh awoke to orange.

Bright orange had taken over his sight and a sweet strawberry scent filled his nose. Hayley’s hair rested wildly on his face, while her body was pressed closely against his. Her face was buried into his side, and her arms were draped over his chest. He smacked his stomach, as if to shoo away the butterflies that went wild inside.

Being the light sleeper that she was, Hayley woke up as soon as she heard a smacking sound. She slowly opened her eyes to see a very frustrated Josh, slapping his own stomach. That was… Strange

Then she realised how close she was to him and how she had been hugging him while she slept. It was a subconscious issue of hers; her body always shifted toward heat, and since Josh was so near (and warm), her body had automatically scooted toward him. But she didn’t really mind being so close to him.

She heard Josh laugh softly, and felt something being pulled away from her. She hissed like an animal and snatched it back roughly.

“Hands off, Farro” She whispered fiercely, with a snarl.

“You still have Mr Ducky?! And you sleep with him too!”

Josh was laughing now. He laughed until his face turned purple. Hayley rolled her eyes and patted Mr Ducky on his head.

“Don’t listen to this ass, Mr D. I’m sure you remember him, he’s Josh Farro. He’s just jealous that I love you more than him!”

Josh scoffed, and grabbed Mr Ducky away, causing Hayley to follow after her duck, which meant leaping over Josh. Hayley had practically tackled Josh onto the bed and they had landed in an extremely awkward position on top of each other.

She scampered off him quickly, and jumped off the bed with Mr Ducky in her arms. She spotted something at the corner of her eye, and lunged toward it. Josh watched her in amusement. Seeing her act like this, brought back memories of when they were kids.

“HAH, YOU STILL KEEP MR GOOSIE!”

“NO! Don’t touch him!”

Hayley grinned with such evil that she could have made anyone cry. She stuck out her tongue, and held Mr Goosie inches from her face. Josh narrowed his eyes into slits.

“Don’t you dare…”

Hayley brought the stuffed toy an inch closer.

“NO, PLEASE! I’m begging you!”

Another inch was closed.

“NO! HAYLEY, STOP PLEASE. I’M SORRY! DON’T!”

Hayley’s tongue brushed against Mr Goosie’s stiff fur.

Suddenly, she felt like she was hit by a truck. She fell into a giant laundry pile of clothes, with the truck landing next to her. Josh wasn’t going to let her off so easily for committing such a foul act. He began to tickle her mercilessly, causing her to burst out in a fit of giggles. He stopped tickling her and fell onto his back on the laundry pile with a content smile. Still recovering from her gut busting laughter, Hayley laid back as well. She closed her eyes and began to daydream.

A pair of soft lips was placed gently onto hers, the cold surface of a lip ring sending chills down her spine.

"Mr D doesn't love you as much as I do"

She smiled and kissed back eagerly.

Drops Of Jupiter - Chapter 5 | 3:40 AM
IT'S CHAPTER 5,
AND IT'S SUPER SHORT AND IT'S A FILLER CHAPTER
:D

Chapter 5

“I was told that they loved Europe too much to go back, but I never believed a word of it. They had already bought a house and enrolled me in a school, it was really sudden, you know?”

She took a deep breath and continued, fighting off the lump that was growing bigger in her throat with each painful memory that flashed through her mind. Through all this, Josh was gazing at her with sad and sorry eyes. He saw the pain behind her eyes.

“I started seeing less of Dad for the next few months and the subsequent months after, he stopped coming home. I feel so stupid for not questioning them. One day, Mum told me to follow her somewhere. She brought me to the hospital, and I finally saw him. He was so… so weak and vulnerable… They never told me that he had leukaemia, and when they did, he was already on his deathbed… I almost didn’t get the chance to say goodbye…”

She felt a teardrop roll down her cheek.

She couldn’t continue, but she did not allow any more tears to leave her eyes. Josh sat there, thinking about all that she had said. He had been holding such a grudge on her parents all these years for taking her away from him. He got up and wrapped his arms around her. Once again, she let her tears run through his shirt. They received a few weird stares from the other patrons, and Josh would have none of that.

“Let’s get you home…” He said soothingly, before slowly guiding her out the door and into his car.

That night, Hayley slept on Josh’s bed, while he rested on Zac’s bed, which was technically right next to his own. “How about Zac?” You may ask. Well, Zac was still in very deep sleep on their plush leather couch. Josh laid on his bed and thought about all that had happened today.

He had met up with his long lost best friend, whom he still loved dearly, and found out the painful truth of why she never came back, and he never really got to buy his lamp… Also, he had finally forgiven Hayley’s parents for taking her away from him.

It was a good day.

He smiled as he watched Hayley sleep; she looked so peaceful and serene. He planted a kiss on her forehead before he rested his head and slipped into deep slumber.

Hayley opened her eyes and grinned sheepishly. Then, she in turn, planted a kiss on Josh’s cheek, and dozed off.

Drops Of Jupiter - Chapter 4 | 5:55 AM
WOAHHHH
Chapter 4, here we come! It's one of my favourite chapters, just cause of the ending. I love it. LOVE IT. And yeah, READ READ READ! :D

Chapter 4

In a clever attempt to talk to Hayley, Josh decided to sacrifice his lamp. He had offered it to her, saying that he could easily choose another lamp for himself. She smiled softly and politely refused it. But he insisted, and she finally accepted it. She thanked him sincerely, before walking toward the cashier to pay for it. He asked for her name, but did not give his own yet.

“It’s Hayley, Hayley Williams, and you are?” She introduced herself with a smile. She was attracted to a guy that she’d just met. A man who had just thoughtfully given her the lamp that he had intended to buy… She studied him; perfect face, somewhat muscular body, irresistible voice and a gentleman for letting her buy the lamp.

“It’s Josh” He answered with an adorable, lopsided smile. He watched her reaction, as he proceeded to say his last name.

“Josh Farro”

Moments passed before Hayley’s eyes widened in realisation, while Josh continued to study her, knowing that it was indeed his Hayley. His long lost Hayley. Within seconds, her arms were around his waist in a tight embrace. She sobbed quietly into his chest, leaving wet patches on his shirt. He stroked her hair in a comforting gesture as she continued to embrace him.

An hour and four packets of tissues later, Josh and Hayley were seated in the nearest Starbucks, sipping slowly on their hot piping coffees. They talked about absolutely anything under the sun. Butterflies flew around wildly in Josh’s stomach; he had that feeling every time he heard her voice. The feeling of being around Hayley again was indescribable. Hayley was feeling the exact same thing.

Nine years of news, happenings and experiences were spilled into many hours of conversation. They talked about past relationships, their lifestyles, what they did in school, even down to what they ate daily. But one thing was not revealed, and it was burning into Josh.

“Hayles, if you don’t mind me asking, why didn’t your family come back to Franklin?”

The huge grin that she wore faded into a thin, straight line, and her expression darkened noticeably. She then told him her story.

_______________________

“Momma…? Are you alright?” Hayley asked tenderly, her voice overflowing with worry. She had found her mother, Sarah Williams, sobbing quietly on their hotel bed, while her father no where to be seen. She sat down next on the bed, and stroked her mother’s cheek affectionately, brushing away the shed tears. Sarah Williams kissed Hayley’s hand, and steadied herself. She took in a shaky breath before speaking.

“Hayley, honey, mummy has some… bad news”

Hayley simply nodded, her face expressionless and waited patiently for her mother to continue. Just then, Hayley’s father, Terry, walked through the door, causing Sarah to burst into another round of fresh tears.

Terry rushed to his wife’s side, and hugged her tightly. He was always able to calm her down. Hayley learnt that from the many times he had saved her from a harsh scolding. Hayley grabbed Mr Ducky and sat down on the bed.

Knowing Sarah was in no condition to speak, Terry spoke for her.

“Hayles, we’re not going back to Franklin…”

Hayley felt tears well up in her eyes while the lump in her throat threatened to choke her. She wrapped her arms around Mr Ducky and buried her face into it. She mumbled a barely audible “Why?” as she wept softly.

Terry wrapped around his two favourite women and rocked them both back and forth in his lap. He couldn’t tell her, he didn’t have the heart to tell his little girl that he had cancer.

Drops Of Jupiter - Chapter 3 | 2:35 AM
Chapter 3! WOOHH :D I'm ok with this chapter I guess, anything haha :D

Chapter 3

Early into the next morning, Josh was woken up by a loud crash in the living room. Thinking that it was a burglar, he grabbed his metallic baseball bat that rested at the side of his bed and slowly made his way cautiously down the stairs.

“What the… Zac!?”

Sprawled on the floor was Zac, drunk and unconscious. He had passed out when he walked through the door, fallen to the floor and in the process, knocked the porcelain table lamp over. Josh shook his head in disgust. He hated when Zac went partying with his friends.

Josh propped Zac against the couch, and cleaned him up, before settling him down on the sofa. He placed a glass of water, along with a box of aspirin on the coffee table. If he didn’t take care of Zac, who would? Zac was kicked out of their parents’ house when he turned 18. It was a cruel Farro house rule - Independent at 18. But it did not apply for the only girl of their family, Isabelle Farro.

Josh washed up, and decided to go shopping for a new table lamp later that day. He poured out a bowl of his favourite cereal and began to munch on it slowly. He made a mental note to buy more of the heavenly cereal when he went grocery shopping after he bought his new lamp. Josh wrote a note on a post-it, and was about to stick it to Zac’s head. Instead, he placed it next to the box of aspirin, knowing the chance of Zac noticing the note was very, very slim. He exited their apartment and made his way to his car.

****

Josh roamed around his favourite furniture shop, where he had gotten his entire apartment from. It was unusually crowded today, and Josh was one of the few men there. What kind of man goes shopping, huh? But he didn’t care, he needed the lamp. It somehow gave him inspiration to write songs for Far Away, since Zac or the other members were no lyricists.

When he was about to exit the store, a particular lamp caught his eye, and he made his way over to it. It was of a rectangular shape and was coloured in a bright, pleasant orange. He caught the attention of a sales girl and was prepared to buy it. Josh stood at the cash register as the cashier began to wrap and pack his new lamp. He began to text Zac, to see if he was awake and well.

“Hi, I’d like to buy the same lamp that he’s buying”
“I’m sorry, miss, that’s the last one we’ve got in stock”

Josh looked up from his phone, and looked around for the owner of that voice. It sounded vaguely familiar to him. He spotted a petite girl with vibrant, bright orange hair, dressed in an oversized black jacket and skinny jeans. He studied her flawless features intently. Why did he feel like he knew her?

Feeling someone’s gaze on her, the girl turned to see Josh staring, rather fiercely at her. She cocked her head to the side in amusement when she saw the blush rise to his cheeks after she’d caught him staring. Then their eyes locked, and time seemed to slow down. Her green eyes melted into his chocolate coloured ones and memories of those same green eyes appeared continuously in Josh’s head.

It was Hayley.

She had dyed her hair orange, which was her favourite colour, from the dark auburn that it once was. Not to mention, she had wanted to buy an orange lamp. She had cocked her head to her side, which was her trademark action that she used whenever she was amused and or confused.

But it was her mesmerising emerald eyes that gave her away.

Of course, Josh wasn’t too sure whether it really was Hayley. He had been through those situations where he thought he saw her, and ended up making a fool of himself when he ran up to a total stranger, attempting to embrace them. He had a few battle scars from when those strangers either slapped his face, or abused him with their purses. Therefore, Josh decided to converse with her, just to make sure.

Drops Of Jupiter - Chapter 2!

Hahaha, it's chapter 2! I'm really slow in my writing, so forgive me if I take forever to post something! (: This chapter's pretty boring. It's basically an intro on Josh's life and introducing some of his family and friends. Enjoy! Thank you for reading my work!

Chapter 2

Josh dusted the sand off his shoes and breathed in the strong smell of the sea. It smelt like rusty iron, but he adored the smell. It was like a drug to him. The beach was his haven when he was feeling like crap. The sun had long set, and it was getting rather dark, and it was cold. Josh shivered before wrapping his hoodie tight against his muscular body and carefully stumbled through the dark toward his car.

He eventually made it to his house, where he lived with his brother, Zachary Farro. Zac was a few years younger than Josh, and was still attending high school. They were both in a band, which they entitled “Far Away”. Josh was the singer and guitarist, while Zac was the drummer and some of their close friends played the other instruments. Jeremy played the bass, Taylor played the rhythm guitar and Ajax played the keyboard and sang the backing vocals. Far Away was an amazing band, which just hadn’t got its lucky break yet. However, Josh was concentrating on his studies and the band was taking a short break for now.

“Zac, I’m home!” Josh yelled as he entered the front door of his posh, two story apartment. His family wasn’t exactly rich, but they were definitely rich enough to afford most things – including a very high-status apartment in downtown Franklin.

Josh was greeted with silence. Oh well, maybe Zac was out. Josh chastised himself for the fact that his younger brother had more of a social life than him. He threw on some comfortable clothes, which was technically him being shirtless and leaving only his boxer shorts on. He laid down on his bed, and began to drift off into sleep.

Josh was a handsome and popular jock in high school. He was a nice and honest guy, who was good in sports and music, which explained why he was a baseball and football star. Many girls swooned at the sight of him, but he never dated anyone. He only waited for Hayley. He had many friends, but never as close as the relationship that he had shared with Hayley. Even if she wasn’t there, he thought of her constantly.

Josh had shed all his high school friends when he began university. He knew that most of his friends only stayed with him for popularity but he knew who his real friends were, namely, his closest and most trusted buddies, Jeremy, Taylor and Ajax, excluding his brothers.

__________

“Mum! Why isn’t Hayley back yet? She said she’ll be back in about a month!” Josh whined while pacing up and down his living room.

Hayley’s family had been vacationing in Europe for more than a month and Josh was eagerly awaiting their arrival back in Franklin. He was missing Hayley terribly, and he had not spoken to her since her departure as Hayley did not own a mobile phone, and he never believed in emails. Letter exchanges were out of the question, as Hayley was touring all over Europe and had no definite address

“Shush, honey, Hayley will be back when she’s back” Josh’s mother, Flora Farro, spoke to Josh soothingly from her favourite couch while knitting. The fireplace cackled and dance as Josh continued pacing around. He was spending his first Christmas apart from Hayley and he was bored stiff without her to accompany him.

“But, mum, Hayles said that she would be back before Christmas! Will you please call Mr and Mrs Williams for me? Huh? Huh? Please Momma!” Josh begged.

“Joshua Farro! Stop whining and go play with your brothers! The Williams’ are probably spending Christmas there, we shouldn’t bother them” Flora scolded.

Josh stormed off and went to his room to sulk. He laid down on his bed and hugged his stuffed goose, Mr Goosie, a matching stuffed toy for Mr Ducky that Hayley had bought for him, and his favourite picture of Hayley and himself, their faces next to each other and his brown hair blending with her dark auburn hair. And he did something he rarely did – He cried.

Somewhere in Europe, Hayley hugged Mr Ducky as tears streamed down her face, while her parents explained why they were not returning to Franklin.

Drops Of Jupiter | 5:56 AM
HAHAHA I'M CANCELLING MY OLD FF, BABY :D
This is a new one, based on the song called "Drops Of Jupiter" by Train.
Paramore never exists, but the members are best friends.
Hayley leaves on a vacation, and never comes back, Josh is devastated.
And they were 12 when this happened.
So, nine years later, she comes back...

Drops Of Jupiter - Chapter One

Josh sat on the sand, and looked straight into the horizon. He always loved to sit at the beach. He loved to admire the sunset, the brilliant streaks of colour that were strewn across the luminous sky. He had recently turned twenty, and he was studying to become a lawyer. But he never left Franklin. He wanted to be there, if Hayley ever came back. He never gave up hope.

He remembered that day so clearly, the day when Hayley and her family left to vacation in Europe. Well, they never came back… That is, until now.

-----------

“How long are you gonna be gone for?” Josh asked curiously while lying on her bed and studying her as she packed her suitcases. “I don’t know, Joshie. Maybe a month or so… Mum wants to enjoy herself in Europe. I’ll really miss you” She replied in her sweet sing-song voice.
Here they were, little Josh and Hayley, barely eleven years old. They were the best of friends and were both inseparable. He was definitely going to miss her while she vacationed in Europe.

Their mothers were close friends, and had mixed them together since they were little kids. It was without a doubt that both Josh and Hayley would eventually end up so close.

Josh smiled as he walked up to help Hayley with her suitcases. They packed Mr Ducky, her beloved stuffed duck that he had gotten her for her ninth birthday. Josh pulled out a necklace which he had recently acquired with almost half of his savings. It had a silver chain and an orange heart that dangled at the end of the chain. Orange, Hayley’s favourite colour… He slipped it into Hayley’s hand and embraced her.

“I’ll miss you too, Hayles”

****
“I’ll see you in a few weeks, Joshie! I’m going to miss you so much!” Hayley whispered into Josh’s chest as they squeezed each other in a huge bear hug.

They stood outside the boarding gate, and it was almost time for Hayley to board the plane with her family. Josh had tagged along to see Hayley off, of course. He never went anywhere without her.

Josh smiled at one particular window as the plane took off. Hayley smiled back down at him.

______________

It had been nine years since Josh had last spoken or seen Hayley. He had missed her terribly, but he could do nothing about the ache in his heart. He had always loved her, and he knew that.

Apparently, her parents had always been planning to move there all along, and they knew that if they told Hayley, she wouldn’t go, due to her incredible stubbornness. So they decided to rip her life apart, by forcing her to stay in Europe forever. They accidentally ripped Josh’s heart apart in the process as well.
